3 pillars of animal communication
Animal Communication (AC) = Intuitive Interspecies Communication (IIC)
Understanding Begins With Connection
Over the years, I’ve witnessed something quietly profound again and again—our animals are always listening. They’re constantly tuning into us, doing their best to make sense of what we’re feeling, saying, and asking. But as humans, we’re not always easy to understand. Our energy may say one thing, our words another, and our body language something else entirely. It’s no wonder our animals sometimes look confused or respond in ways we don’t expect.
That’s why I created Animal Communication 101. Whether in live events or one-on-one sessions, my heart-led goal is to help you understand how to create more clarity, harmony, and mutual trust in your connection. When we learn how to “speak” their language, energetically, emotionally, and intuitively, our animals respond with joy at being heard.
One of the most overlooked but common ways our animals communicate with us is through body language. Long before they vocalize a need or feeling, they’ve usually already shown us, softly, subtly, and often repeatedly, through posture, gaze, breath, cues, or movement.
You’ve likely seen these cues many times: the shift in ears, a yawn, a lip lick, the turn of a head, the flick of a tail. But you may not have realized just how much your animal has been trying to tell you in those cues.
In my work, I often share with clients that when an animal resorts to vocalizing, barking, meowing, growling, or whining, it can sometimes mean their more subtle body language messages went unnoticed. Each species and individual animal has their own unique way of using their body to express themselves. Our role is to begin observing more closely, with curiosity and compassion.
By increasing your awareness of slowing down and observing your animal’s specific body language, you uncover the rich, unspoken “dialogue” their body has when connecting with you. It’s a significant and tangible part of animal communication, one that helps us meet our relationships with animals with an even greater understanding and presence.
The Silent Body Language of our Animals
Energy: A Silent Foundation
Energy is the unseen language that speaks louder than words or actions. Everything in life, our thoughts, emotions, breath, actions, and presence, carries a frequency. While we often focus on what we say or do, our animals are tuning in to something deeper: how we’re being. They “hear” our energy first and foremost. This is the real conversation taking place beneath our words, the one I call your silent conversation with your animal.
When we talk to our animals, they don’t just hear our words—they feel the energy behind them. The vibration of your voice, the emotional charge in your body, and the coherence (or confusion) in your intentions all shape how your message is received. You might be saying one thing out loud, but your animal may receive something entirely different if your energy is disconnected. This is why sometimes, despite our best efforts, our pets seem confused or unresponsive. It’s not a lack of love, but a misalignment in the energy between our head and heart.
One powerful way to become clearer in your communication is through a practice I call intellectual grounding. This means gently noticing and releasing any judgment, frustration, or bias and being more neutral in your words and open in your heart before you speak. When your words come from a grounded, open-hearted place, their frequency naturally rises, and your animal will sense that shift. This allows your communication to land with more clarity and emotional safety, rather than static or confusion.
Our energy field is like a ripple effect. It influences how our animals feel and how they choose to respond. By slowing down, centring, and grounding ourselves, we become more aware of our energetic state. When we engage from this space with our animals, we offer both them and our relationship the gift of a more balanced, congruent connection. This kind of attuned presence strengthens your bond and invites more cooperation, trust, and peace into your relationship.
Learning to communicate through energy isn’t something extra; it’s natural, it’s foundational. It’s how animals already relate to the world. When we meet them there, with awareness and care, we begin to unlock an even more intuitive, heartfelt connection in our partnership with them.

Telepathy: The Foundational Element
Telepathy is at the heart of animal communication. The non-verbal, sensory-based language of sharing thoughts, emotions, images, and even physical sensations with our animals in a two-way dialogue of send and receive. While it may sound mystical, telepathy is actually very natural. In fact, you’ve probably already experienced it.
Have you ever had a sudden knowing that your pet needed something, only to discover you were right? Or felt a wave of love, concern, or excitement from them before you were in the same room? These are quiet telepathic exchanges. You were born able to send and receive messages through your senses and energy. It’s how you communicated as a baby, before you learned to speak. As we grew up, most of us just weren’t taught to keep using this natural, intuitive way of connecting.
The foundation of telepathy is awareness. Animals communicate through a rich tapestry of sensory signals: sight, sound, smell, touch, taste, and emotion. They also receive information from the energy and intention behind our words and actions. That means telepathic communication isn’t about trying harder, it’s about slowing down, paying attention, and becoming more present within yourself.
Rather than thinking of telepathy as something new, think of it as something you’re reacquainting yourself with. You might be more visual and receive images. Or you might feel things in your body or emotions that clearly aren't yours. You may hear or even have a felt sense of knowing. There’s no one “right” or “one” way, each person’s telepathic style is unique often to their learning style, and each animal will have their own way of expressing themselves.
By cultivating quiet awareness, grounding yourself, and softening into trust, you begin to notice the gentle messages your animal is already sharing with you. With awareness, intention, and practice, you reconnect to telepathy naturally and further deepen your bond.

is animal communication the same as psychic ability?
There is often confusion between Animal Communication, intuition, psychic ability and mediumship. Animal communication is a language. But unlike a spoken language, it is made up of sensory stimuli rather than words. It is a language expressed and experienced through the senses and communicated through telepathy. On the other hand, intuition is something that comes from within us. It is a gut feeling that can guide you to better understand your pet's needs and wants. Psychic ability is about receiving one-way information and reading the animal and situation with external sources such as spirits, guides, and sometimes even tarot cards to gain information. Lastly, a medium is a psychic who can connect with those who have crossed over and bring messages from loved ones to you. I use all four of these in my Animal Communication practice as they are all ways to connect and gain information and understanding about your pet.
do animal communicators really work?
Yes, they do! It is normal to be skeptical and question their work as it is only now beginning to be more commonly practiced and fit within the confines of our current understanding. However, more research is being done to explore how we telepathically and energetically interact with our animals. Rupert Sheldrake is at the forefront of this research, and a more recent researcher is Dr. MJ Barrett.
When you choose to work with an animal communicator, I believe it is important to ensure they are professionally qualified. I encourage people to ask me questions in the free initial call.
can animal communication change my pet’s behaviour?
First, it is important to understand that an animal’s behaviour ALWAYS makes sense to them. For your pet, there is always a logical reason for why they are doing that behaviour.
Animal communication can help you understand the WHY of your animal's behaviour. You and your animal can work towards a solution with that new understanding. Most animals' behaviour will change when they have been heard and understood, but there is no guarantee their behaviour will change. Animals have free will, some do not want to change, or their person isn't ready or willing to change a situation that influences the animal's behaviour.
Some animals with behavioural issues may need more than one animal communication session and may greatly benefit from energy work.
why is animal communication important?
Animal Communication is important because it allows you and your pet to connect and understand one another's perspectives deeply. Animal Communication invites greater mutual respect and a deeper human and animal bond. Nothing is better than when you both truly understand each other!
